Job Description

*$2,000 Hiring Bonus (paid $500 at 90 days; $500 at 9 months; $1,000 at one year. *Bonus based on full-time hours worked)

**Provisionally licensed clinicians are able to obtain hours needed towards full licensure at a faster pace due to NOV ATC being a residential treatment facility

The Therapist provides therapy, counseling and re-socialization skill training for the treatment of individuals displaying a variety of addictive and personality/behavioral disorders and using the techniques of the Treatment Community treatment model.

Major Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a therapeutic environment that fulfills the physical, emotional, social, and behavioral needs of the program members. 
  • Establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with program members.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records that document program member service needs to include treatment planning, treatment progression utilizing agency format and adherence to all standards for clinical recording.
  • Facilitate individual sessions to occur twice weekly, family sessions on a weekly basis, and group therapy sessions as indicated by the Clinical Manager, Youth Services.
  • Evaluate program member functioning, including drug taking behavior, social and psychological adjustment, and vocational/educational skills to determine the service needs of the program member.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive treatment plan that delineates the goals, objectives, methods, and criteria for treatment.
  • Intervene and de-escalate volatile situations including physical aggression and property destruction utilizing NOVA TC’s Crisis Intervention Policy and techniques as taught through the Crisis Prevention Institute if needed.
  • Assist teaching employees by being active in the NOVA Alternative School by providing services to the students via facilitating team involvement and development associated with the physical education course.
  • Be on call for crisis situations.

Job Requirements

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or a related field and Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP), Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) or Provisional Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP), with a preference being for co-licensure as a Nebraska State Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Provisional Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (PLADC).
  • Two years clinical experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with stressful/ crisis situations.
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Knowledge of the physiological and psychological effects of chemical dependency on human behavior.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, program members and appropriate community agencies, and to function in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of a Therapeutic Community.
  • Ability to effectively use individual, family and group counseling skills.
  • Ability to identify and effectively resolve individual treatment issues with program members.
  • Knowledge of the 12 Steps of Recovery.
  • Ability to administer, score and interpret objective testing instruments related to the assessment of addiction.
  • Knowledge of the ASAM-PPC Dimensional Criteria and its application to continued treatment, discharge planning, and decision to discharge.
  • Acquire and maintain on the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Service’s Preferred Provider listing.
