Job Description

Ally Counseling Services is looking for compassionate, dependable candidates to inspire, motivate, and empower individuals and families in northeast Nebraska!  

Provide professional psychotherapeutic services to clients with mental health and/or substance abuse issues.  Collaborate with multi-disciplinary professionals to provide individual, family, and group therapy.  Support adults, adolescents, and children by building on their strengths, managing mental health and substance abuse obstacles, and advocating for clients' mental and social wellbeing. 

This full-time position is housed primarily in O’Neill, Nebraska, but is open to telehealth services as requested or required by clients’ needs.  Enjoy a flexible schedule with nights, weekends, and all major holidays off.  No on-call or emergency hours required!  As part of the Ally Counseling team, you will enjoy professional growth and opportunities to excel in your field.

Job Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete assessments/evaluations to arrive at diagnostic impressions, needed treatment services, and coordination of care.
  • Develop, review, and modify client treatment plans based on research, clinical experience, and client histories.
  • Complete necessary clinical documentation, paperwork, and evaluations within designated timeframes.
  • Provide crisis assessment and intervention, if/when necessary.
  • Complete discharge planning and summaries with clients to facilitate needed care and/or provide referrals to other agencies/resources, when appropriate.
  • Participate in weekly clinical supervisions/staff meetings to gain knowledge and enhance professional growth.
  • Build and maintain an active client caseload.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships within the community, schools, court systems, and with other professionals.
  • Advocate for clients’ rights and assist clients in ensuring their rights are being protected and preserved.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Be a reliable and flexible team player.
  • Maintain knowledge of the signs and symptoms of mental disorders and substance abuse disorders, as defined in the DSM-5.
  • Be knowledgeable in therapeutic theories and practices.
  • Provide effective intervention with problematic individual and/or group behaviors.
  • Possess clinical decision-making skills appropriate for client’s care and safety, including seeking supervision/consultation as appropriate, and always in the case of imminent danger.
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain ethics and confidentiality as dictated by profession.


  • Master’s degree in the human services or substance abuse field: Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or other closely related field.
  • Be a Provisional or Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP or LMHP), Provisional or Licensed Alcohol-Drug Counselor (PLADC or LADC), and/or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) as defined by the State of Nebraska.
  • Will successfully pass and maintain background checks required by the agency.
  • Must be a Nebraska licensed driver with an insurable driving record.
