Founded in 1875, our agency has grown over the years to address most of the challenges children, adults, families, and communities face across the lifespan, including substance use, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence/sexual assault, human trafficking, homelessness, juvenile justice, mental health, neighborhood distress, and poverty. Today, we offer 42 programs from 20 locations in east central Nebraska and southwest Iowa. This position requires travel between outpatient office locations in Douglas and Sarpy County. Specific project, fiscal, program, or office responsibilities may occur at this level. This position will provide case management services to help reduce barriers between community and professional services, program engagement and attendance to individuals and families within the Nebraska Behavioral Health program. This position will also be the primary program contact working with clients and the Billing Team on past due client balances.

Compensation: $16.31 to $21.18 (per hour) based upon experience
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, hours vary.

You could be perfect for this opportunity if you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related or two (2) years of experience in behavioral services and are looking to further hone your skill sets at an industry-leading nonprofit human services agency. We are looking for someone with good communication skills and who is resilient in working in a diverse environment and can:

  • Provide direct intake or assessment of client’s presenting problem and barriers to recovery.
  • Provide information, referral, problem solving and crisis intervention to address client needs.
  • Assist with fee collection systems and client repayment agreements
  • Maintain all client documentation within the electronic health record.
  • Available to assist evaluation clients with pre-screening paperwork.
  • Follow up with clients referred to treatment services in collaboration with community partners.

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Complete onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on our business, vision, departments, programming, and team and gain an understanding about how your role fits into Heartland Family Service’s broader organization mission and strategy.
  • Attend new employee orientation training to learn the mission of the organization, how we are doing, where we are going, and our overall agency philosophy.
  • Work with team and manager to understand work expectations and set goals for the first three months in the role
  • Get to know our policies, procedures, and Behavioral Health tasks and processes
  • Be introduced to and ramped to use our electronic data system
  • Partner with manager to define key success metrics for your role and how to keep track of your progress

3- 6 months, you’ll:

  • Develop full cycle knowledge in leading and supporting core Behavioral health processes independently
  • Be proficient in running reports

6 -12 months onwards, you’ll:

  • Map out team’s and own priorities for following year.
  • Be able to identify innovation (if applicable) with practices and processes.
  • Keep abreast of changes in the industry
