Founded in 1875, our agency has grown over the years to address most of the challenges children, adults, families, and communities face across the lifespan, including substance use, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence/sexual assault, human trafficking, homelessness, juvenile justice, mental health, neighborhood distress, and poverty. THE OPPORTUNITY

Diverse therapeutic responsibilities that include assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, and trainings opportunities. This position is located within the Sarpy County Juvenile Justice Detention Facility (JJC) and provides crisis intervention and support to the youth located there.  They will work closely with JJC staff and provide mental health education to the staff working with the youth as well.  This position will help provide support and supervision to the other therapist onsite as well.  We are looking for full time Lead Therapist and part-time Therapist.

Compensation: Therapist (provisionally licensed starting at $50,000 and fully licensed starting at $54,000); Lead Therapist (fully licensed starting $56,500)

Work Schedule: 20 hours Monday through Friday (part time-can be during business h ours and/or during nights and weekends) for Lead Therapist (fully licensed); 20 hours Monday through Friday with one evening (part time) for Therapist (provisionally licensed)

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

You could be perfect for this opportunity if you’ve had at least two years previous related experience and a master’s degree in Social Work or related field. Additionally preferred licensure includes: CADC, PLADC, LADC, PLHMP, LMHP, LIMHP.  We are looking for someone who can build strong rapport with diverse groups, and who is exceptionally reliable, organized, detailed-oriented, and takes a trauma informed approach to engaging with clients. THE SKILL SET

Within 3 months, you’ll:

  • Attend weekly supervision, monthly clinicals (regular trainings within agency and time to collaborate with clinical colleagues
  • Complete onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on our business, vision, departments, programming, and team and gain an understanding about how your role fits into Heartland Family Service’s broader organization mission and strategy.
  • Attend new employee orientation training to learn the mission of the organization, how we are doing, where we are going, and our overall agency philosophy.
  • Work with team and manager to understand work expectations and set goals for the first three months in the role
  • Get to know our policies, procedures, and clinical tasks and processes
  • Be introduced to and ramped to use Evolve (electronic health record).
  • Partner with manager to define key success metrics for your role and how to keep track of your progress
  • Weekly supervisions with supervisor, monthly clinicals with therapists across the agency.

3- 6 months, you’ll:

  • *Work with Mental Health (MH) team staff at Sarpy County Juvenile Justice Center (JJC) to provide therapeutic services, optimizing accessibility to mental health services for youth.
  • *Conduct a comprehensive intake assessment on all youth entering the facility.
  • *Conduct individual suicide assessments and reassessments as necessary, provides subsequent recommendations to MH team members and JJC staff.
  • Continue to learn about programs across the agency
  • Network with partner agencies and others in the community
  • Increase knowledge of clinical skills, theory, and practice

6 -12 months onwards, you’ll:

  • Cross training in other programs
  • Increase of training opportunities
  • Move towards independent practice with consultation
  • Identification of goals to build areas of specialization and passion
  • *Provides consultation and training to JJC staff including training, education on indicators to assist in early recognition of problem areas, assistance to staff in implementing transition plans for youth.
  • *Assists MH team in monitoring and managing JJC environment to maximize safety and prevent crisis situations.
