Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide professional counseling services that may include individual, marital/couple, family, and/or group counseling, crisis intervention, consultations, and educational presentations. Supervise inpatient and outpatient therapists within the Behavioral Health Service line. Collaborate with service line for program development.

Location: Methodist Fremont Health Hospital
Address: 450 E 23rd St. - Fremont, NE

Work Schedule: Mon. - Fri. 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., no holidays. Some weekend call.

Responsibilities:

Essential Job Functions

1. Provide professional mental health counseling services. Works within a multidisciplinary setting to provide individual, group, couple, and family counseling.

  • Assesses, diagnose and treat clients for emotional and mental health problems.

2. Refer clients to appropriate treatment and coordinate care with provider and team.

3. Ensure records (e.g., IDI, MHE, TxPlan, TxPlan Reviews, Progress Notes, Safety Plans, Collateral Calls, Group Therapy Notes, etc.) of all counseling transactions are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

4. Build and maintain effective working relationships with all staff within Behavioral Health service line.

5. Comply with all applicable Program and Health System policies including mission, vision, core values, and Employee Standards of Behaviors.

6. Maintain and broaden clinical knowledge and skills through continuing education.

7. Ensure all billing is completed for services provided in a timely manner.

8. Maintain a current knowledge and practice related to all aspects of the Behavioral Health Service Line; actively participating in developing programs and services. Assisting with referral processes/sources in conjunction with service line leadership. Assist in identifying program opportunities and service improvements.

9. Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.

10. Assist in the education of referral sources regarding behavioral health services outlining services offered, transition opportunities and program needs.

11. Ensure compliance with Methodist Fremont Health safety policies and procedures and regulatory requirements (E.g. OSHA, JCAHO, CLIA, etc) monitoring departmental safety requirements on annual basis for complete participation for those assigned to.

12. Other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

Education

  • Master's Degree in counseling, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related human services field required.
  • Master's Degree in social work preferred.

Experience

  • 3 years counseling experience preferred.
  • Experience with drug/alcohol treatment programs preferred.
  • Experience with intensive outpatient or acute inpatient programs preferred.

License/Certifications

  • Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner (LIMHP) or Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) required.
  • Participates in mandatory in-services, and continuing education programs as mandated by the Health System, and State of Nebraska licensure requirements.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

  • Knowledge of mental illness, substance abuse and treatment options.
  • Ability to maintain composure in highly stressful or adverse situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, team members and community resource representatives.
  • Ability to process and manage confidential information with discretion and according to HIPAA protocols.
  • Ability to lead and manage inpatient and outpatient therapy teams.
  • Ability to mentor, supervise, delegate and evaluate.
  • Ability to organize and perform multiple tasks, problem solve and prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to understand and act on case management needs.
