Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE: Responsibility for public relations and fund raising activities for the agency.


Develop and implement effective marketing strategies to increase public awareness, understanding, and perception of the purposes ad goals of the agency.

Develop and implement effective strategies for enhancing and promoting the image of the agency

Develop an appropriate department budget and manage effectively.

Provide leadership to the Development Committee and the development and implementation of annual and long-range development plans that are responsive to the changing environment of the agency.

Develop and implement strategies to annually increase the number and amount of ongoing, individual, unrestricted gifts and to increase corporate support of the agency.

Develop and implement fundraising activities as determined by the annual Development Plan. Activities to include, but not limited to, personal solicitation, annual campaigns, capital campaigns, special events, major gifts program, planned giving programs, and establishing an endowment fund.

Generate written promotional materials to include, but not limited to, agency and program brochures, agency newsletter, annual report, media advertisements and public service announcements.

Develop and maintain strong and effective media relations for the agency.

Maintain a system for timely acknowledgment of all gifts.

Solicit and use volunteer efforts effectively.

Identify and pursue reasonable grant funding opportunities and generate effective and successful grant proposals.

Provide leadership in determining the potential for securing financial support for proposed additional programming as well as the expansion of existing programs.

Act as resource to Board committees as required.

Respond to agency needs when there is a high demand

Work cooperatively with supervisors and managers

Exhibit organizational skills resulting in timely completion of documentation requirements

Practice according to professional ethical standards

Contribute to a positive work environment


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree; Post graduate courses and/or workshops in the areas of marketing, fund raising, communication, business management or equivalent professional training.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE MINIMAL REQUIREMENT: Previous experience in the field of fund raising, including responsibility for an operating budget; excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Proficiency of a PC and word processing with some working experience of PC graphics.

Job Requirements

A bachelor’s degree and previous fundraising experience are required. A related advanced degree and grant writing experience is a plus. Must have excellent relationship, communication, organizational, and project management skills. Must be able to work independently and in a team setting. Full-time.
